The two types of engines are used in different ways. An external combustion engine uses air and fuel to create heat, which then powers the engine. An internal combustion engine uses a spark from an electric motor to create heat, which then powers the engine. ..
External combustion engines are heat engines that use the burning of working fluid to produce thermal energy. This energy is then converted into mechanical force or output.
There are two types of External Combustion engines:
Internal combustion engines are heat engines where the combustion takes place between the working fluid (fuel) and air using an oxidizer. ..
The Internal Combustion Engine is classified on two bases:
The fire department arrived to find a car on fire.
The Strokes are a British rock band that formed in London in 2001. The group consists of Julian Casablancas (born December 12, 1981), Ethan Johns (born January 17, 1983), and Romain Grosjean (born October 15, 1984). The band has released two albums and two singles.
Diesel engines don’t use spark plugs for ignition, instead they have a fuel injector which sprays fuel into the cylindrical chamber when air is compressed. Spark plugs are placed inside the Spark Ignition Engine, which is used to ignite the fuel and air mixture inside the combustion chamber when it is compressed. ..
Following are the part of the Diesel Engine:
The assembly of a cylinder block is a critical part of an engine. The cylinder head, piston, connecting rod, and exhaust valve are all important components in this process. The air intake and fuel injection system are also important in the assembly.
Working of Diesel Engine:
The cylindrical chamber in a diesel engine is the most significant part. It contains a piston and connecting rod assembly, and has an opening for Fuel intake (e.g., Fuel Nozzle), and another for discharging the combusted gases through Exhaust Valve. When the piston moves, the cylinder head connected to it through connecting rod closes the Exhaust valve when the fuel injector is working and it closes the fuel nozzle when exhaust gases have to be discharged. The crankshaft and flywheel are connected to the piston assembly, and they are used to reduce vibration and smooth out the working of the engine. ..
Following are the main parts of the Spark Ignition Gasoline Engine:
Inlet valve: The inlet valve is a metal or plastic tube that enters the engine and connects with the air-fuel mixture. It is important to note that the inlet valve must be open when the car is started, as this will allow air to enter and mix with the fuel. The inlet valve also regulates air/fuel mixture as it flows into and out of the engine. Exhaust valve: The exhaust valve is a metal or plastic tube that exits the engine and allows exhaust gas to escape. It is important to note that the exhaust valve must be closed when the car is stopped, as this will prevent gas from escaping and damaging the engine. The exhaust valve also regulates air/fuel mixture as it flows out of the engine.
Working of Spark Ignition Gasoline Engine:
Spark Ignition Gasoline Engine is a type of engine that uses strokes to create combustion. The piston moves down and creates a vacuum, which in turn allows the air and fuel mixture to enter the chamber. As the piston moves from the Top dead center (TDC) to Bottom Dead Center (BDC), this stroke is defined as a Suction stroke. Now, as the piston moves from the Bottom dead center (BDC) to the Top dead center (TDC), the mixture (Air + Fuel) will be compressed and this stroke is called a Compression stroke. In Power stroke, again piston moves from the Top dead center (TDC) to the bottom dead center (BDC) and thus the compressed mixture of air and fuel is ignited using a spark plug due to which combustion takes place. In exhaust stroke, the piston moves from the bottom dead center (BDC) to the Top dead center (TDC) and the exhaust gases are discarded through the exhaust valve. And, it completes one cycle of Spark Ignition Gasoline Engine.
The types of combustion engines have different spark plugs and fuel injectors.
Dead center is the middle of a three-dimensional object, such as a circle or square. Dead center is also the point around which a rotating object, such as a wheel, revolves. ..
The TDC is the position of the piston when it reached the top of its stroke. The BDC is defined as the position of the piston when it reached the bottom of its stroke.
A two-stroke engine is a type of engine that uses two strokes to power the piston. This type of engine is often used in small engines, such as motorcycles and bicycles. ..
A two-stroke engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes its one cycle in two strokes. The whole process of taking the fuel inside and compressing it takes place in one stroke and the Combustion of fuel and Discharge of gases (Exhaust) takes place in another stroke.
